hang around ... with people you want to
be like
I recently read two great articles that delivered similar perspectives
on an interesting topic: the company we keep. Alexandria Brown, The
Ezine Queen, encourages us to hang around people we want to be like
or those who boost our energy and make us feel good. Victoria Moran,
a life coach, agrees: “Surround yourself with positivity. Feed
your spirit with the company of upbeat, ‘land on their feet’ friends.” It’s
such a simple concept and easy to do. Being around optimistic people
leads to an instant mood lift and an infusion of positive energy,
which can be a good thing when you’re not feeling so upbeat.
You know how it feels when you hang around someone who’s outlook
on life is negative: it doesn’t feel great and tends to bring
you down. So take a moment to look at the people in your life - -
those who you work with as well as your family and friends. Who supports
you for who you are as a person and makes you feel good about yourself
and your life? Who do you admire? Make a point to hang around those
people more often. Absorb their positive vibrations as you forge your
path to success.
Career Corner – Tips for choosing a more fulfilling career path
Finding a career path that's right for you is a process that takes
time. Here's a tip that can help get you
started.
Make the commitment
Any big change we want to make in our lives requires commitment and
perserverence. A career change can be one of life’s biggest,
and most rewarding, transitions. It requires dedication, patience
and persistence. People who successfully achieve their goals usually
find a way(s) to motivate themselves, stay motivated, overcome obstacles
and remain focused and determined. On a scale of 1-10, what’s
your commitment to finding a career you enjoy? Be honest here. If
it’s not a 10, what’s holding you back? What would make
it a 10? Think about how you manage to stay motivated and committed
in other areas of your life. Can you apply the same strategy or philosophy
to your career? Genuine commitment is a necessary first step on the
journey to career fulfillment. What action, large or small, can you
take today to move up the commitment scale? Your career is worth the
effort.
