On a Personal Note
I hope you had a wonderful holiday
season and were able to take some quality
vacation time. Studies show that when we take a
break from work and our to-do list, we
are more productive, creative and effective
at work. And for that matter, everywhere
else in our lives! During our downtime
we are able to chew on the challenges in
front of us and come up with better solutions.
Ideas typically come to us when we’re not obsessing
about something, but relaxing and thinking
about something else.
As part of your commitments
and goals for 2007, make a vow to carve
out the downtime you need this year. To
help you identify what you want to achieve
in 2007 and review what you learned in
2006, I’ve developed a complimentary

Inspirational Quote and Food for Thought
In a recent blog
post,
I asked, “What is the impact you have on those in your life?
And what’s the impact you want to have?” I think this
inspirational quote answers that question
for all of us:
“Be the person you want others to see you as.”
Sometimes we need to be reminded that life isn’t all about
doing … doing … doing. It’s important to just “be.” Enjoy
the journey! Have fun! Take risks! Be the person you want to be!
When you become the person you want to be, you are much more likely
to achieve your goals. Why? Because you are more in alignment with
the things you really want in life. We are integrated beings, so everything
affects everything.
As you prepare for 2007, ask yourself: Who is the person I really
want to be? What is the purpose and mission statement for my life?
What are the traits in me that I would like to cultivate? What are
the habits I would rather leave behind? How can I commit to being that person?

Feel better now: It’s important to feel good while you’re
looking for a new career path or job. If
you are feeling miserable, out of balance,
unfulfilled, or frustrated -- whether in
your life or in your current position --
it will be harder to focus on the future.
This is because all of your energy is being
drained by your negative feelings. Take whatever
steps you can to put yourself in a more
positive frame of mind. Not only will it
help in finding your new career, but it
will also create a greater balance in your
life.
